In the House of Representatives on Tuesday, an Imprest Supply Bill, authorising expenditure of £2,280,- ! 815 was passed through all' its stages. Mr Massey in reply to criticisms, said he proposed to deal with the question of income tax when the Bill came down, which would contain amendments to the law. ' Some of the amendments were recommendations by the Taxation Committee. As to the financial position, in a general way, he could say that the revenue was still falling; but he looked forward to an early date when it would cease to fall and things would take a turn for the better. For four months of the' financial year just commenced he could tell the House that, compared with the same period last year, the revenue had .fallen by £150,000, but against that the expenditure had'diminished by £1,200,000, which afforded them some consolation. Prices on the whole were rising, but the trouble was * that any of the producers would not benefit, because they sold their wool before the rise took place. The outlook, however, was distinctly better.
