T'EMUKA STOCK SALE
The /fortnightly stock sale took place M Temuka on, Tuesday, when there was a rather poor entry of sheep, but a large entry of cattle. The demand was very moderate and the sale was a dragging one. The following are the sales made: Fat Sheep.—Wethers, 12 at 24s 7d, 15 at 25s 9d, 17 at 25s Bd, 20 at 22s 3d, 1G at 25s 3d, 19 at 255. Stores.—2o 2-tooth ewes at 24s 6d, 50-i at 24s Gd, 43 6 and 8-tooth ewes at 12s lOd. Fat Cattle. —Steers at £lO, £6 10s, £9 10s, 4 at £4 12s 6d; cows, £4, £2 15s, £5, £4, £3; heifers, £5 10s, £!) 10s. Store Cattle.—Steers, 4 at 355, 1 at 41s. 4 at £2 17s 6d, 4 at 32s Gd, 1 at ,335, 5 at £2 Is; cow, 27s Gd; heifers, 1 at. 27s Gd, 2 at £3, 1 at Ss: (i calves at 275. THE HOME MARKETS. LONDON, August 26. Sheep.—Canterbury light 7d, medium 6 id, heavy 5 3d; North Island 5 7-Sd to 6d; South American, light (ij.d. Lambs.—Canterbury, light 11 7-8 d medium lid, heavy n.7d; Southland 10;d; North Island, ordinary lOJd; South American, light 9d, heavy 9d. Frozen Beef. —New Zealand fores 3 1-Sd, hinds 4 5-Sd; Australian fores 3.H1, hinds 4Ad. Chilled Argentine Hinds 7:]d, others unchanged. The quantities for the September woo' sales total 12SJJ00 balos, including 50,000 Australian 8.A., W.R.A., of which 64,000 are merino. 24,000 privately owned Australian and 4 0,000 privately owned New Zealand.
DAIRY PRODUCE AND MEAT. The Bank of New Zealand report having received the following advice from their London office, under date 25th inst.— Hutter. —Quiet, 20Ss to 210 s por cwf. Cheese.—Slow, coloured 84b to SF.b per cwf.., white SSs to 90s per cwt. Frozen Meat. —The mutton market is tirm with an upward tendency. Lamli is firm and moderate business has been done.
