ROME, August 25. The death-bed confession of a cinema actor, Cavallaro. has cleared the mystery surrounding the murder of an old merchant in Turin and a second murder, that of an elderly woman two months later. With a fellow actor, Pietro, both Sicilians, he had been engaged in the production of films. Losing their positions, they became penniless and decided to give a realistic turn to the scenes in which they acted. They therefore murdered and robbed their victims of 300,000 lire. Cavallaro admitted that but for his illness he would have killed others. Pietro, when arrested, repoached jhis betrayer, who suddenly collapsed and died. ALLAWAY CONFESSED. LONDON, August 26. The Home Office states that Allaway, before his execution on August 19 for the murder of Miss Wilkins, confessed his guilt.
