WOOL SALE.
AT DUNEDIN. SLIGHT DROP IN PRICES. The Dunedin Woolbrokers’ Association held its third sale this season on Tuesday. The offerings totalled 20,000 bales, but the selection was not so good as at the January offering, as most of the showy aud attractive wools iu Otago were then submitted. One would describe the competition as somewhat spasmodic. Prices, in sympathy with the weakness reported from England, were easier, but on the whole were satisfactory, and quite equal to the recent Christchurch sale—in some instances better. In a number of cases wool passed at the January sale made higher prices, while others showed a drop of Id and more. Super halfbreds can be quoted with little change, but medium sorts were easier by id to Id. Super crossbreds, suitable for America, showed a decline, due to the absence of American orders or a reduction in their limits. Merinos were, if anything, selling iu buyers’ favour, but it is difficult to say clearly, in view of the heavier conditioned wools on sale to-day Pieces aud bellies showed a decline. The clearance effected at auction would amount to 85 per cent, or over, and no doubt many passed lots were cleared after the sale.
