THE WEATHER.
The Government Meterorologist reports as follows : The indications are for easterly winds, moderate to strong, and backing by east to north, then freshening to a gale. Expect warm and sultry weather, with increasing haze and cloudiness for an unfavourable change in the weather. The barometer will fall shortly. SCULLING CHAMPIONSHIP. ■ mm thj: rage to-day. WANGANUI, January •!. The weather is delightfully tine, with every prospect of continuing so for to-morrow's race for the world's .sculling championship. Arnst and iladfield both say they are lit and each man appears confident. Hadticld finished up his training yesterday with a steady row over four miles, and is resting to-day. Arnst was out twice yesterday and again to-dav, when he did a good row over the full '-ourse. He will have a .short spin to-morrow. Opinion is divided as to the probable result. The improvement Iladfield has recently made and his advantage in age make him many friends. Arnst is in great fettle, and should be, capable of reproducing most of his old form.
