TIMARU WOOL SALE.
IMPROVED PRICES. The first wool sale of the current season in South Canterbury took place in Timaru on Tuesday, when 9880 bales were offered, the quality being up to the average of recent years. The demand showed an improved tone, competition for merino and crossbred being animated., the' hulk being secured for Colonial mills Crossbred constituted the largest class and the advance represented Id to 13d, prices all round being better than tit the recent sale in Christchurch. Prices were: Merino 15Jd to ISJd; super halfbred lid to 15Jd; first halfbrcd 12d to 133 d; merino halfbred 10 to lld ; super three-quarter-bred 10 to Hid; first thrcc-quartor bred Kd to 9id; medium three-quar-ter bred 6id to 7:7d; first crossbred Gid to 73d: medium crossbred sid to CJd- coarse crossbred Id to sid: super pieces lOd to 10*d; half-bred bellies 7id to 83d; pieces Id to aid; crutchings 2jd to -ltd.
