FUNERALS.

Two funerals look place on Baturclay last, and wore both largely attended. The funeral of the late Martin Connolly, of Epw o rth, Tcinuka, —one of the pioneers of the dominion—took place in the morning, and was attended by friends from all parts of the district, including 'some who knew him in .the early days. The itov. leather lioaro celebrated miass ip Br. Joseph's Church, and the services at the Church and graveside were conducted by the Rev. Mathers Ivimboll and Hoare. The bearers were members of the local branch of the Hibernian Society, of which the deceased was looked upon as the father —Messrs D. Fitzgerald (president.), M. llealy, MeShechy GenTlamuu, and T. Knight. A number ‘of floral tributes /were sent by sympathising friends.

In the afternoon, the remains of the late Miss Moana Leonard, the young Maori nurse, whoso death was reported in our last issue, wore laid to rest in the Native Cemetery at Arowhcnua. Apiran a (North Island), and TV. Riokus.
