Bally Manvers, thoroughly, disgusted with her life, goes on to the roof of the tenement house .she lives in, to gel s*(!’u fresh ait. Falling asleep she i» drenched by tt downpour of rain, 'ihe entrance to her roof being locked she! enters the home of Airs Standish, a society 'woman. Bally surprises Airs Standish’s- brother. Walter Savage, stealing her jewels in order to collect tba insurance money. Mrs Standish ia in the plot. They take Sally with them to Newport, where the goes as secretary to their aunt, Mrs Gosnold. Three men. Savage, Lyttelton. and Trego, try to make love to her, but Trego is the only one with honesty'ol purpose. The detectives investigate the loss ,d the jewels. Mrs Standish puts the case in Sally's- room. Sally, gives it to Mrs Gosnold, and confesses she came there under false pretences. Savage prepares to .abduct Sally. butOtakes his aunt bv indstake
as she and -Sally had exchanged costumes. Miss Pride hides some of Mrs jewels in Sally’s bureau, and Sally is accused yvf the theft. Lut Air* Gosnold, wham Savage 'rescues when ho discovers his mistake, clears Sally’s name bv exposing Airs Slandish’s and iSavagc- whole scheme.- And Sally ,disgusted with society people, returns to New York. Tergo follows her and urges her to marry him. She realising that he is different Horn the others, accepts. Supported bv Cooperative Weekly (topical), and Lest We Forget (comedy).
