LONDON, January 1. A Russian official message says : “ We repulsed a German offensive southward of Pinsa.

“The enemy strongly attacked Roumanians on both banks .of the KazinO eastward of the Moldavian frontier. The Roiyiiaiiiaus maintained their positions. “ Roumanians were obliged to retire in the region of Petreanu .westward of Focsani, and took up new positions Irom Focsani to the Danube without enemy pressure. “ The enemy attempted to advance on Roumanula west of Braila, but was compelled to retire and entrench. “ Twenty-three enemy battalions attacked our centre in the Dobrndja and compelled us to retire to our next line.”
