Home time ago it was announced through itio newspapers that .Mr Murphy, of 'J'iniaru, was prepared to give a LJO JOs cup to any rider jvho could lower the Australasian two-mile motor-paead record. \U- E. Wells, who rode m the Lastei Monday (Tcmuka) meeting, intended lo make an attempt t.o annex the tup offered. On 'inqgii-y, however, we are told, he was informed that a time limit had been set, viz,, 2inin •15a...c, The Australasian record is the same as that put up by Tyzer on the Tnnuru track, via,, 3 minutes. Naturally Wells anU his supporters consider that to depart from the conditions upon which the cup was offered, and to reduce the record by the. big difference of Is.se.cri is unreasonable.
