~ . $ The opening matches of tire cricket season were played at Winches wr on Saturday. In the men’s game, 'Temuka played Winchester, and v.on easily. Winchester, batting first, made 53, and Tomuka made 131, three men retiring. Cantrell and Di-nu played fine cricket feu their runs. Keen, for Temuka, took the whole ten Winchester wickets. The matting wicket played very test arid true. Scores :

Geraldine School team were beaten’ by Winchester School team by 4T runs, the game being played at the same time as the men’s game in the Homain. Afternoon tea was provided for both matches by the ladies of the Tennis Club. Scores—Winchester 132 (W. Elsom, retired, 58, Scott 24, Young 14) : Geraldine 87 (Logan 24, G. Campbell 21).
On Wednesday the Geraldine Cricket Club play their first match of the season against Ttemuka, on the letter's ground in Victoria Park,. Play will commence at 11 o’clock sharp. The following will represent Geraldine —Bennett, Chisholm, Dcnnehy, Hard, Knnbley, McLean, O’Callaghan; Temple, Willoughby. Hislop, and Herlihy. Coach will leave. Sherratt’s stables at 9.30 a.in.
