HIGH COMMISSIONERS REPORT. The Department of Industries and Commerce have received tie following cable metsage from the High Commissioner dated London, June 13th:— Mutton.—The market is dull, trade for all classes is very slow amd prices are barely maintained. Quotations are—Canterburv, 4id ; North Island, Sid.
Lamb.—The market is very firm, and there is a good demand for all brands.! Prospects am favourable for obtaining high prices during this sea son. Canterbury is quoted at sid other than Canterbury, old.
Beef. —There- is a better 'demand for beef owing to the reported scarcity in America, but there is mo change in prices.
Butter.—The market is firm, and there is a good demand. The stock of Now Zealand butter is exhausted. Danish is quoted at i 12/-: Australian at 11)4/- ; and Siberia* at 102/- pe cwt.
Cheese.—The market is quiet but .steady, and there is n fair demand 'for the 'better graded. White makes, of which there is a small supply, are quoted at 02/-, and coloured, which is in large supply, at 57/- per cwt. Hemp.—The market is quiet with small business doing. .Following are the current, ((notations : —(rood fair grade, on spot, £2O 10/- ;' fair grade, on spot, £24 10/- ; fair current Manila, on spot, .C 2-1 10/-; duly to September shipments, good fair grade, £27 ; fair grade. £25 ; fair current Manila, £25 |>er ton. Wool.-The market is <|uiet, but steady, and current .quotations for Bradford topsi are as follows :—3(>'s low crossbreds, 1/3;? ; 50's, 'quarterbreds, 1/0| ; 44's, medium er o ssbreds, Iljd : 50's, rmlfbrods, 1/3-', 1 ; 50's quarterbreds, \/iS\ ; 00's, merinos, 1/9. Hops.— The market is very dull. TATTERSALL'S YARDS. The Canterbury Farmers' Co-opera-tive Association report on the .horse market at Tattersall's yards oil Saturday as follows :—Competition for good young, draught horses was 'good find the major portion of, this class of stock f o und buyers under the hammer. Quotations are as follows : Draughts, •young, with trials, £3O, £33, °C3S, £4O to £45. Two exceptionally good' young Olydesd'alc. horses were sold on account of Mr .<). Rlaekmore, junr., as follows :—Bay filly, 3 years, j>y Loch' C-yle, dam a Prince Alfred mare, £45 ; 2-year-old colt, -by New Style, £3B. Light harness horses sold at ClO, £ls, to £22. FLFASANT POLNT SALE. The usual fortnightly sale was held at the above, yards on M o »day. There! was a 'good yarding forward, comprising 50 eattoi, 0320 sheep, nnd_ s pigs. Thero was splendid competition for ■all fat stock (especially lam',,s, Stores, however, were not in demand, and in order to in a ko sales low !>fi ( ' w had to -be accepted.
