TIMARU HIGH SCHOOL BOARD RESERVES.

At a meeting of the Timaru High School Board of Governors, Mr D. Hist on, lessee of a farm at Clandeboye, wrote (April 27th) that the fences and drains were "not in good order, and that 89 acres had been loft in stubble instead of grass, as reqiiiired by the previous lease. He would bo glad to know what the Board intended to do about these matters The Board recognised no respondent) in the matter. Mr Nolan, on behalf of Mrs Nolan, new lessees of two of the Claud cbo'yo farms, wrote comp alining that they were required to clear Californian thistle that ought to have been dealt with by previous tenants. The. ditches on the farms also needed cleaning' out. - Members said the tenants took the land us it was and' the Board could assume no responsibility. Mr W. Howson, steward of reserves, reported that on 'Reserve *N 0 . 9.59 (W. McCully and Middleton) the boundary fences wore in fair condition. Some of the land on the lower end was Hooded, mainly through the laid state of the drain on the road on the iun th of (he reserves. Some of the drums within the reserve also wanted '’leaning. There wore some patches of t ahforainn thistle, some had a drum dug ro/nd them and all had been cut down to prevent seeding. In reserve No. MHO (late Boyd's) the boundary fences, except the south end, were in fair order. On the south end most of the division fences were very much out of repair and some gates were missing, and Mr Boyd was then i"i tiding some of the. fences. Some of the drains were somewhat choked with weeds grid very full of water, partly owing to thedra'ma in adjoining paddocks being choked. hor the position of steward M the Board’s reserves, four applications were received! and Mr W. il. Williams. Into Crown Bands Ranger for South Canterbury, was appointed.
