A WARNING TO: THE WORKERS.; I '

(To the Editor), ; Sir,—As it is drawing near .the timo when we will have to choose representatives to act for 41s in tho legislature of this country, 1 would iik-j to point out to tho workers, and tho country workers more especially, .that we arc going to gain little if anything through trades unionism. 'i'h'J reason is right hero : As tho trades unions rise wages, up goes tho cost of living in comparison, and , taking everything into consideration"'wo arc ov-ja worse oft than ibeforo the good eld man started to fight for us, and misnamed this "God's own country." Tho only thing left to tho workers is to open their 5 eyes and to fight for themselves. l'a do this wo are forced to start Political Labour League branches, and all that is required to make them a gigantic success is the help cf the workers, who are tho great majority in this couatry to-day. The .question is, have the workers awakened, or are they waiting till they are even more downtrodden than what they are at present ? The time is drawing near when aspiring politicians will be stumping the country, tolling the workers all sorts of tales about what they will do for them, and what they will benefit by having so and so to represent them. Now, workers, think for one moment, act as one man and elect as your representative a man whom you can trust I to act in your own interest. Now to .do this wo require an organisation of some kind,_ and the Political Labour League is right Ti\ re at our hand. Let every worker join it and light our own light, keeping in mind that if only half of the workers wake up that wo will have an overwhelming majority. We have a big majority in numbers, and surely wo arc not deficient in brains, which is all that 8 is required to make tho workers a power in this countoy to-day. Oh, workers, open your eyes and ask your selves what Jack the Capitalist is going' to do for you, then strike out and 'fight side by side with your mates, the workers, for yourselves 4 and your children, and when tho next elections are a thing of the past you will find the light has not been \a vain.— I am, etc., M. LAEAOY. ■2oth December, 1907. - .
