TIMAItU. i The annual tenuis match, iimaru v [ Waitohi Terrace, was played on Saturday afternoon at Waitohi, and resulted in an excellent win for the home club by the good majority of 10 games. The weather was variable, the advance party uf Timaru players driving out in the morning amid steady rain. Luckily the weather cleared about noon, and the afternoon was all that could be wished for outdoor games. The match was keenly contested and was witnessed by, a good many enthusiasts in the game The play was of the highest order seen on the Waitohi Club’s courts ; tho ladies especially; played a keen and luu'd game. Among the men Mr W. I’earse, who is just back from the champion tourney and other North Island fixtures, embracing a month’s solid tennis among the best players in the colony, was in exceptionally lino form, and it was a pleasure to his old opponents and many friends io see the improvement he shows in all round play. It was also a pleasure to some of the veterans engaged lo see how well the younger players of both clubs are coming on, and there is no doubt that such gatherings as that of Saturday are productive of 'a lot of good to the game in SouthCanterbury. The visitors were most hospitably entertained. Players and friends had lunch together at Mr and Mrs ’l’. Orr’s residence, and most refreshing afternoon tea was dispensed by fhe ladies of the Waitohi Club. The following are the scores (“ W” Waitohi, “T” Timaru.) ; SINGLES. W. T. Miss Mcndelson v.
