DUNEDIN AUTUMN MEETING. DUNEDIN, Feb. 25. the weather is perfect for the opening of the Dunedin Autumn Meeting, the course is in tip-top order, and the attendance is remarkably good. Results : Handicap Hurdles, of 70 sovs ; one mile and threequarters—Snider, 9st, 1; Dartmoor, 9st 111 b, 2; Waikaia, 9s t 101 b, 3. South Buster and the Earl also started. Dartmoor led till the last hurdle, when Snider challenged him, beating him in the run home by four lengths, the same distance separating second and third. Time, 3min 27 2-ssec. Dividend, £9 2s. Hack Handicap, of 60 sovs; one mile—Lavalette, 9sb 21b, 1 ; Almanac, 7st, 2-, Stepenfeldt, 7st 91b, 3V St. Ronald, First Shot and Koputai also started. Won all out by a nose. Half a length separating second and third. Time Imin 47 3-sth sec. Dividends £1 14s. Champion Stakes, of SOOsovs, six furlongs.—Machine Gun 1, Quarryman 2, Sychem 3' These were the only starters. Two lengths between second and third. Time Imin 19 l-sth sec. Dividend £1 4s. Dunedin Cup, of 500 sovs, one mile and a half. —OrlaS 8.13, 1, Cannie Chiel 8.5, 2, Lady Lillian 8,3, 3. Canteen was scratched. A fine race. Won by two lengths, two lengths and arhalf between the second and third Time 2min 37 4-sth sec.
CAPETOWN, Feb. 23. J. E. Boardman, the English jockey, won 25 out of the 30 races in which he rode in South Africa during a visit of two mouths. His victories included six consecutive wins at the Kenilworth meeting, near Cape town. On Saturday he. sails for Eng land to fulfil an engagement in F, W. Day’s stable. SYDNEY, Feb. 24. The Trotting Association has decided to reciprocate with the New Zealand Association in regard to horses passing between Australia and New Zealand, and as far as possible in all matters relating 1 1 trotting.
