WASHDYKB STOCK SALE. There was a small yarding of both sheep and cattle at Washdyke on Monday. Fat ewes sold at I3s 2d and 13s 3d ; forward lambs, <9s lid 10s- 33 to 10s 8d ; extra good 2 and 4-tooth ewes, i6s 3d ; cull ewes, 8s od. Cattle—Springers brought from £5 10s to £6. PLEASANT POINT STOCK SALE. There was an entry of 3000 sheep and ’ 150 head of cattle at the Point Yards on Monday. The sale was a good healthy one throughout of both sheep and cattle at prices on a par with late rates. The following arc quotations Fat ewes 12s, 13s, ! to J3s Id; forward rape lambs, 10s 61, 10s 7d to 11s 3d, two-tooth ewes and wethers 12s to T3s 4d ; full-mouthed owes with lambs, all counted, 7s 6d. Bs, 8s 3d to 8s 6d. Cattle—Pat steers £7 10s £B, to £8 10s, fat heifers and cows, £6, £6 10s, £7, to £7 10s ; store heifers £4 10s to £6, two'and a half year old steers, £5 17s to £6 10s 18-month old to two-year-old steers £3 17s 6d, yearlings, 395. ASHBURTON STOCK SALE. There was an average yarding of sheep at Ashburton yards, but there were very few cattle. Prices were not quite up to late rates. CattleDairy cows brought £8 10s, fat cows £6 17s 6d, fat heifers £4. SheepFat crossbred ewes brought ;7s '3d to 12s 6d, 2-tooth crossbred ewes 13s 5d to 14s 9d, crossbred wethers 9s ;6d to 16s, lambs 13s, freezers do 11s '6d to 14s. In Store sheep lambs brbught 8s to 11s 6d, 2-tooth and 4-tooth crossbred ewes 12s 6d to 13b 4d, aged ewles 5s 5d to 8s 3d, crossbred wethers 11s 6d to 14s Bd, merino ewes and lambs 6s 6d, all counted. AUCKLAND WOOL SALE. , AUCKLAND, Feb. 17. ,At the Auckland wool sales .1500 bales were offered. About half the catalogue was passed in. Finer grade wool, well grown, realised within a halfpenny of. last sales, but prices of low crossbreds in : most cases showed a decrease of three farthings to a penny per ft. The'highest price realised for finer wool was 6|d. One lot was passed at Bd. Low crossbreds averaged 4|d and bellies and pieces sold well. MILBOURNE SHEEP SALE. A clearing sale of the' sheep on the Milbourne station was held at Napier on Tuesday last. Some Canterbury buyers were present. The flock consisted of 40,000 sheep, chiefly heavy-woblled crossbred-Lin-cblns bred for constitution as well as for fleece, and purebred LineoQns of good status. For 20,300 breeding ewes of mixed ages, prices ringed from 7s 2d to 9s 6d for two-tooths, four years 8s 9d, five years 8s 3d to 9s 9d, six-iooths up to 11s, and a particularly good line of four-tooths up to 18s 7d ; 9000 wethers brought 8s 9d for two-tooths, 10s Id for four tooths, and 11s 3d for six-tooths ; 9400 lambs of mixed sexes averaged 5s ; stud Lincoln ewes, two-tobths sold at from 14s to £2 2s, fourtooths 12s, three, four, and five years 9s 6d ; stud Lincoln rams, ITgns to s.}gris ; flock Lincoln rams, £gn to Ign. THE HOME MARKETS. The following Cable,’ message dated London, February 14th, has been received from the Agent-General “The mutton market is weak, and there is a dull sale for all qualities. The average price to-day for Canterbury mutton is 4Jd, Dunedin, Southland and Wellington Meat export Company’s 4|dt; other North Island mutton; 4£d, River Plate Mutton B|-d, United Slates mutton 3£d. There is a good demand for all -amb, Canterbury brand is 6|d ■; New Zealand brands, other than 'Canterbury, 64, Australian 5Jd, River Plate s£d. There is scarcely a-iy demand f.«r frozen beef. Supplies of American chilled beef are large. Quotas'.ms for New Zealand beef are nominal; hindqua. ters 3|d, forequarters 3J. ihe butter market is lifeless ; some holders ar forcing sales, and the market' has been unfavourably affected by Canadian stored butter. The price Of New Zealand butter to-day is 99$ per cwt. i; Danish 108 a, Argentine 98 s. Canadian 935, Siberian 935. The cheese market is firm. There is a better demand tori' cocksfbbt. seed ; the average price today for New Zealand 171 b standard is 64s per cwt. LONDON, ,Feb. 15. Quotations for Canterbury mutton are unchanged ; Dunedin and Southland, 4fd ; North Island 4-Jd, Lambs' —Canterbury 6;jd ; Dunedin and Southland 6£d; North Island 6-ld. Beef quotations are nominal, forequarters 3d, hindquarters 3fd. River Plate sheep are unchanged; beef is nominal' forequarters 3d, hindquarters 3|d. Hemp is quiet r, fair Wellington, January-February shipments, £29 15s. LONDON, Feb. 17. The New Zealand loan issue is quoted at one per cent discount. SYDNEY, February 16. The wool sales have reopened, but the market is irregular. The top price for greasy was lid, and scoured 20;?d. At the Homebush sales the demand for sheep was good. Best wethers soldi at 15s, good 13s to 14s ; ewes, best, 14s 6d, good 13s 6d. In cattle values arc firmer, best bullocks fetching £l3 ss, good £lO 10s, best cows £lO 55,; and good £7. Best beef is quoted at 37s 6d per 1001 b,.
