Proposed Ploughing Match.

A well attended meeting of farmers wua held in Mr W. Quirke's Hotel, Orari, on Saturday, Ist June. Ou the motion of Mr Donuithorne, seconded by Mr W. Brown, Mr A. W. Knsor was voted to the chair. The chairman staled that the meeting was called to discuss holding a ploughing match in the district—Opihi to Raugitata. The following gentlemen wore appointed a comuiiitee, with power to add to their number: —Messrs J. and W. Donuithorne, C. Bolaud, W. Hawke, R. Bisset, A. Kelman, sen. and juu., G. M. aodK. Brophy, P. and J. Wareing, A. Metcalf, W. Quirke, W. Mason, T. Lyons, G. Harrison, R. laylor, 8. IvlcClelland, It. Bennett, W. Fitznstriek, H. Uearn, W. Brown, W. and J. Beattie, O'Connor, Behreus, It. Skinner, A. Metcalf, and A. \V. Elisor hon. secretary and trsaourer. Mt-3srs J. Donuithorne, M. Brophy, W. ijrown, K. Brophy, W. U.awke, and J. Lyons, were appointed a sub-committee to enquire into details, and report at next meeting, to be held on Saturday, 27tL June. It was resolved that in Class 8.. Boys, only ordinary farm ploughs with cast share*, skoith and coulter, are to be used, depth, 6 inches. In the champion classes competitors may cut as they p!ea«e. It was resolved that lists be issued, returnable on the 22ud June; also that notices be sent to the various implement and onauuro prices.
