Levels County Council.
At a special meeting of the Levels County Council on Saturday a resolution was unanimously passed ordering the during of Dore’a road. Pleasant Point, there ,ug no opposition. Pour of the settlers interested in the proposed drainage scheme at Tidal Creek waited on the council to confer regarding a diiiieulty in raising tho necessary loan, as the Government can lend only up to 10s per acre, and this will not provide the amount required for tha work. Mr Raymond, the council's solicitor, was present, and suggested that tho balance could bo raised in two or three different ways, and the applicants agreed to meet later at his office and select a method. Owing to tho overseer being indisposed, his expected report on the roads carrying converging traffic was not ready, and tho discussion of tho report was postponed. Mr Macintosh mentioned that Waimato County had determined to contest the county’s claim tor contributions, ana he believed a strong effort will be made next session to have the clause authorising such demands struck out. Tho council wished to consider the Local Authorities Bill, but copies sent for had not arrived. Instead a telegram has been received stating that tlie Bill is being revised and copies will be available shortly, it was agreed that members should carefully consider tho Bill, and that one or more delegates bo sent to the conference at Wellington. Tho council then went into committee.
