Brisbane, May 20. Tho two main streets from the lauding point to Government House have been beautifully converted into avenues of palms. Queen street is festooned with greenery. In George street tho most sinking feature is tho aboriginal arch in the form of a pyramid covered with Vi-tree bark, and ornamented with elk horns, birds’nests, and ferns. There is a bark guuyah on each pediment, in each of which are two gins, and two piccaninnies, and b'J blacks stand in pairs iu steps up to the apex of the pyramid, which is surmounted by a giant grass tree. Victoria bridge is a mass of flags, streamers, gariauda, and palma 'I he Duke and Duchess of York reached Government House at 9 o’clock this morning. Tho weather was beautifully tine. Tho party disembarked uuietly a, couple of miles outside tho city, and reached town without their presence being known. At 3 o’clock the Duke and Duchess and suite who had unmarked on board tho steamer Lucinda, landed at the municipal wharf, and were received by the Mayor. An address was presented, and as the procession moved through the city the greatest enthusiasm was manifested. In tho Supreme Court the Chief Justice gave judgment for defendant iu connection with Mr Bradford’s application to restrain tho Municipal Council from spending money on decorations. May 21. I he illuminations, though not on •. largo scale, arc well arranger] and tastefully designed. five thousand children sang and went through exercises before 'he Buko and Duchess of York at Goveru/uout House, The Duke of York, during the afternoon reviewed Uu'JO tropa at LytLui. The Premier has been advised by tho United Ptatoi Consul at. Auckland that t.Vs flagship Brooklyn will arrive at Auckland on the 2Dh lust., and then come on to Wellington ; thence she goes to Manila. A supplement (o the GaztfJo appoints Sir R. Stoat Deputy Governor during Lord Xlaniurloy’s absence from the colony. A sale of tickets for admission to tho main stand during the Boyal procession was held to-nighr. Nearly 1000 tickets were sold at an average price of Os each.
