Sydney, May 17. The State Premier has informed Mr Seddou that it is impossible for him or any of his colleagues to accept the invitation to visit New Zealand at the time of_ the Royal visit, owing to the pending State elect ions. All are much disappointed, and the Premier wishes New Zealand tho same success as Sydney and Meloourne had over the Commonwealth celebrations. Eight thousand troops will take part in the mihtaay review in the Centennial Park on the 2Sth iust. May 19. The Royal train consists of the GovernorGeneral’s State car, tho Commissioners special inspection cars, and a composite sleeping carriage, all handsomely upholstered. The Boyal train reached Albury at 5..3U last night. Tho station was handsomely decorated Volunteers formed a guard of honour and tired a salute ns the train steamed in. By request, there was no presentation of an address or speeches. Tho party then boarded the special train provided by tho New South Wales vernment, and under direction of the Chief Railway Commissioner started ou their long journey northwards. The Victorian Government have presented the Duke with a magnificent trophy. The pedestal is of blackwood festooned with a gold crest of Prince of Wales’ feathers, which are formed of New South. Wales diamonds. One hundred and ninety-seven diamonds were used, J. he gift is a souvenir of the opening of Parliament. May IS. The Duke of York has presented MiBarton with a beautiful gold snuff box, handsomely embellished with the Royal arms, with monogram on blue enamel. On the lid is a largo crown of rubies with Prince of Wales’ feathers in diamonds, tied on with a clasp of emerald. On the box are set six large diamonds. Mr Jenkins, Clerk of Parliaments; Mr Chomley, Commissioner of Police ; Mr McCulloch, Chairman of the Celebration Committee; and Mr Peacock, Lieutenant-Governor, also receu ed valuable gifts. The Koyal guests left Government House at 11 30 lor Port Melbourne, joined their train, and left for Brisbane at noon. Brisbane, May 17. The Municipal Council have voted jj4UOO for decorations, and the Government have subsidised it to the extent of £2OOO. Of this, ,£IOOO will be spent on a magnificent stand to be erected at the landing place, which with the largo section of street decorations will now be almost useless Weelingtom, May 17. With regard to the cable received from Mr Ward the other day, stating that all the streets through which the Royal party pass must be roped off, the citizens reception committee to-day decided that it could not undertake to do this on account of the expense. The committee also came to the conclusion that it was no part of its doty to provide cabs for the Duke’s suite. May 18. A Gazette notice issued to-day proclaims the following holidays for the Royal visit Auckland district, 11th and 12th June; Taranaki, llawkes Bay, Wellington, Marlborough, Nelson, and Westland, 17th, 18th, and 20th; Canterbury, 21st and 22ud; Otago, 25th and 26th. In view of the Royal visit the sessional railway passes of members and their wives will be issued from Ist June.
