Melbourne, March G. The Canadian Premier has cabled, do ploringthat he cannot accede to the request to send troops to the opening of the Federal Parliament. Sir Wilfrid Laurier also states that Parliamentary duties prevent him attending, but Mr Mulock, who accompanied his son, would represent Canada. Intimation has been received that the Czar has ordered the first class cruiser Gromboi to proceed here to take part in the naval demonstration.
The Chinese residents in the city have offered to erect an arch.
It is expected that about II.CZD Australian troops and SCJO cadets will partial pate in the federal celebrations.
