TENNIS.
WAITOHI V. TIMAEU. A match was played on the Waitohi courts at Mr Orr’s farm on Saturday afternoon between teams representing the homo club and the Timaru Club. The weather up to C. 30 p.m., when a light shower began to fall, was all that could be wished, and as a result the outing was a most pleasant oue. Mrs Orr entertained the visiting team at luncheon and tea, and the ladies of the club invited players and spectators, of whom there were a good many present, to afternoon tea. In the course of the day the best tennis ever seen on the courts was witnessed, and applause was very hearty at the close of u good rally or any other particular!y excellent exhibition of the game. Before leaving for home in the evening, Mr Cameron, on behalf of the visitors, returned thanks to Mr and Mrs Orr and to the ladies of the Waitohi Club for the very hospitable way in which they had been entertained. The vote was carried with hearty cheers, with a special round for host and hostess. Mr (I. N. Feiiden acknowledged the vote in a happy speech, and the Waitohi Club gave hearty cheers as the visitors left on their return • '1 1- .C„11 ; i-U* .
