The Plague.
Adelaide, Jan. 19. There are no fresh eases of plague. Adelaide, Jan. 20. The doctors have a suspicious case of a boy under surveillance. The house is strictly quarantined. Sydney, Jan. 10. Private letters from Noumea speak of stringent measures to stamp out the plairue. Hats ax'e held to he chiefly responsible for the spread of the disease. Over two hundred rats in one consignment of rice were killed, and the 250 tons of rice was thrown into the sea. Hire, water, and disinfectants aie instrumental in checking the disease. In one case while a young Englishman was killing a rat, a flea off the animal bit him, and a buboe formed and spread through his system. Noumea, Jan. 21. There have been no fresh cases of the plague here for several days. There are sis suspected cases among the Tonkinese at Niponi on the west coast.
