No further deaths have occurred amongst the Kanakas quarantined. The coastal steamer Sc. Pierre arrived at Noumea and reported three deaths aboard, from the plague, two Tonkinese and an Arab. Owing to the outbreak business in Noumea is suspended, hut the alarm is subsiding. Extraordinary measures are being taken to prevent its spread. The Government and other biddings are being pulled down. Numbers of rats have been found dead in the infected districts, it is supposed from the plague.
