A serious accident happened on Wednesday night to Mr Wilkinson, of Petone. He was rididg a bicycle hard to catch the train at Greytown, when the fork of the machine broke, and he received a bad smashing, including severe concussion of the brain. At the Auckland Trotting Club s meeting, owing to alleged foul riding on the part bf the riders of two or three contestants the Second Steeplechase of 2J miles will be run again at a future date. The total investments were returned. Hogan, rider of Karaka, was warned off the course for life.
