Mr Thomas Gumming Craig, mine manager, fell down a mine shaft at Coolgardie and was killed.
Margaret Bruno, whose husband wai recently charged with wounding her in a drunken squabble, at Dunedin, but the case was dismissed, died in the hospital on Thursday morning from Bright's disease of the kidneys, accelerated by drinking. At Timaru on Friday a young man named John Jones was fined 20s and costs for throwing a bag of flour at a wedding party that had just come out of the Primitive Methodist Church. The flour struck the bride and damaged her clothing, and also that of the bridegroom and others. The incident caused the bride to cry, and general consternation among the party, and matters were not improved when on the Rev. C. Woodward coming out of the Church and remonstrating he wa6 invited to " Come up here, and have it out." The accused afterwards apologised and explained that he did not know Mr Woodward.
