The inaugural united service of the CouQcil of the Christian Churches was held in Dunedin on Wednesday evening, when the Garrison Hall was crowded to the doors. The Gathering was a memorable one as being the first in which ministers and delegates from all Christian Churches, save one, mot together to present an united front to gambling, in purity, and drunkenness, and to demand religious instruction in schools. '1 he preachers were the Rbv. Messrs J' Gibb (Presbyterian), Fairclough (Wesleyan), and Curzon Siggtrs (Anglican). The collection amounted to £52 15s lid.
