Paris, March IG. Two German Customs officials having crossed tho frontier at Villenipt, a town in the Department of MeurtheotMoselle, a number of French workmen sought to effect their arrest, but a party of German soldiers levelled their rifles, and compelled the release of the officials. The French Government are investigating the incident. March 17. France is mobilising her fleet. The northern squadron is ordered to hold itself in readiness. Groat activity is displayed in the dockyards at Cherbourg and Brest. All leave is stopped, and the admirals are ordered to repair to France within twenty-four hours.
