M’Allister, a chemist, of Invercargill, committed suicide at the Ashburn Hall Asylum by cutting his throat with a penknife. Thomas Collins, a gum-digger, aged 67 years,, died suddenly at Takapuna while extinguishing a scrub fire near his whare. The cause of death was heart disease.
