TEMUKA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

A meeting of the above committee was held last evening. Present Messrs A, Russell (chairman), J. Grant, J. W. Miles, G. Leveus, F, Hooper, and G. Davey. The chairman stated that owing to repairs to the school he had closed it for one week without calling the committee together. —The action of the chairman was approved of. CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was read, and dealt with as follows: From the Board of Education, stating that the sum of £l2 2s 6d had been placed to the credit of the committee in the Bank of NewZealaud, incidentals for the current quarter. From the same, enclosing names of candidates for seats onjthe board, and asking the committee to nominate three before Feb. 29th—It was resolved to nominate Messrs J. W. Salmond (Temuka), Peter Keddie (St. Andrews), and Rev. Mr White (Pleasant Point). The summary of attendance for the quarter ending December 31st was received. head master’s report. The headmaster reported that since the opening of the school, the attendance had been very good, 326. The repairs and alterations that have just been finished wore of considerable value. Nineteen children were now taking secondary work. One of the secondary pupils, Leonard Talbot, was successful in passing the Matriculation Examination of the N.Z. University in December last. visitor’s report. Mr Grant reported having visited the school, and found everything satisfactory. The repairs and alterations seemed very beneficial. The roof had been thoroughly overhauled. A blind was wanted for the new window facing the north. It was resolved to ask the Board of Education for a new blind. Messrs Miles and Levens were appointed visitors for the month. ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £2 10s was passed for payment. A vote of thanks to the chairman terminated the meeting.
