LABOUR, ETC.
Newcastle, Feb. 7
At a meeting of Board Miners’ delegates it was decided by 95 to 50 to declare all strikes in the district off.
Sydney, Feb. 6
The Government intend to establish a Labour settlement on the South Coast in the vicinity of one of the Lakes, so that the settlers may add fishing to other means of subsistence. Feb. 7.
Following yesterday’s decision of the Miners’ Delegate Board the Seaham strike has been settled, and the men have accepted a reduction of 2d in the hewing rate. Work will be resumed forthwith. The non-unionists will be retained, but work will be found for most of the old hands.
The management of the Greta Colliery have made an offer to the late union employees involving considerable reduction, and there is every probability of their accepting it. The whole of the funds of the Miners’ Association is now reduced to £126, including the strike and general fund.
