RIFLE SHOOTING.
The following are the scores mude in the competition for Major Moore's challenge shield, offered to all the Rifle Corps in the South Canterbury Volunteer District. The Geraldine and Waimate Rifles were, from different causes unable to fire this year ;—•
The Tiniaru Rifles bavin;,', from no fault of their own, been unable to comply strictly with the conditions laid down, the prize has been awarded to the Temuka lUiles who will hold it for 12 months.
A muscular tramp, over oft high, who Ins been travelling in tho Audro.jsau (.South Australia) district in a semi-nude state carrying a bar of iron and demanding food from tho fanners' wives, has been arrested.
