LABOUR, ETC.
Sydney, Jan. 18. The Labor Conference proceeds to busmen to-day. At the opening, letters of apology for the absence of the New Zoil.'.nd delegates were read. The proceedings at the Labour Conference are being conducted in camera. Wellington, Jan. 18. The Labor Journal says that the reports from the country of the labour market during December are encouraging, and the prospects this month are good. Harvesting and grass seeding will absorb a large number. Wellington papers, commenting on a recent decision under the Factories Act, suggest that it should be remodelled and a Consolidated Act brought in. The Labour Department, however, say there will be no necessity for such a course. One or two amendments, including provisions respecting piece work, will be brought down this year.
