PICNIC.

The treat and picnic held annually on St. Joseph's Day in connection with the Catholic schools of Temuka and Kerrytown, came off yesterday, in the paddock adjoining the Temuka school. The day was beautifully fine, and the treat passed off ! most successfully. At 9 a.m. High Mq,ss, was celebrated at which there was a very large attendance. The Rev. Father Fauvel officiated, and an efficient choir sang Bordis Mass. Mies Quinn presided at the harmonium. After mass the children were taken to the schoolhouse, where they were regaled with a substantial breakfast. The t bles were laid out beautifully and very nicely decorated, and they were presided over by the sisters assisted by Misses Brosnahan, Connolly, Fitzgerald, Quinn (2), and others. The Rev, Father Fauvel said grace, and after disprsing of breakfast the children were marshalled into the adjoining paddock and immediately all kinds of juvenile qnqrts yem indulgqtfm, Messrs frQrady;, ■ tfpUwm, fcqiM,! Fitzgerald, Brqsnahat}, Hoare, and others assistedin carrying out a long programme of sports which were hotly contested- There were a forge number of prices, some being yerv substantial, and. no phjld went away without getting some memento of the day.
