THE TIMARU WOOL SALES,
The second sale of the season was held at Timai’u on Tuesday, commencing at 10.30 a.m. There was a full attendance of buyers present, and as usual a large muster of farmers. For clean light wools merino or crossbreds, biddings were spirited; clean locks and pieces sold well but heavy, dirty lines were difficult to quit. Prices were almost on a par with those ruling at the first sale. Five catalogues were submitted, viz : Bales. N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Company 1057 Guinness & LeCren 981 Canterbury Farmers’ Co-operative Association 935 National Mortgage & Agency Company and H. B. Webster 330 Miles, Archer & Co. 290 x 3593 Ruling prices of the day were as follows :—Halfbred, good 8d to 9d, medium 6d to 8d; three-quarter-bred, best 7d to Bd, medium 6d to 7d ; crossbred, best 7d to Bd, medium 6d to 7d, inferior 5d to 6d ; merino, best 6d to 6id, medium and inferior 4jd to 6d; pieces, 2|d to 6d; locks, l£d to 3£d.
