SUPREME COURT.

Auckland, Sept. 12,

At the Supreme Court the case of criminal libel, Blanhce Ford, an unmarried woman, against Hugh Shortland, solicitor, has been on all day, and it is doubtful if it will be finished to-night. The defendant swore that he behaved improperly on several occasions with the prosecutrix. Medical rebutting evidence was given by Drs Bakewell and Girdler. Oamaru, Sept. 11.

The charge against David Campbell for sheep stealing occupied the Supreme Court three and a half days. The jury returned a verdict of" not guilty," with a rider that he leaves the Court without a stain upon his character. A " nolle prosequi " was entered up in the second charge against the accused.
