PRIMITIVE METHODIST CHURCH, GERALDINE.

The quarterly session of the above Church was held in the church, Geraldine, on Monday afternoon last. The chair was taken by the Rev. W. 0. Wood, and a large amount of business was gone through connected with the churches at Geraldine and temuka, and it was decided to arrange for special evangelical services, and endeavor to secure the services of the Rev. James Cocker, of Ashburton. At 6.30 p.m. the members of the board and their friends sat down to a capital tea provided by the ladies of' the church, after which a public meeting was held, * presided over by the Rev. W. 0. Wood, Mr J. M. Sutherland reported that the quarter had been commenced with a clean sheet. The income at Temuka was larger than it had been before, and from other sources there was an improvement in the income. They had a balance to their credit. Mr J. B. Epps, from Temuka, addressed the meeting, and Mr W. S. Maslin spoke of the encouraging state of the station. There was nothing worse than a church , debt, and he felt pleased that the churdTV had not only paid its way, but had something left to start the quarter with. The Rev. Wood brought up the matter of “ time at which to commence evening services,” it was agreed, on the Tote of a large majority, that the time in future be 6.30 instead of 7 p.m. The Rev. Wood next brought forward for consideration the matter of renovating and improving the Geraldine church building. He said that if the congregation could raise £ 100 he thought the church could be improved to meet all requirements.

After a lengthy discussion it was resolved that the work be done, and the money raised by subscription and a gift auction. The meeting then closed.
