DUNEDIN STOCK MARKETS.

At the. Burnside Yards on Wednesday the following business was transacted :

Fat Cattle—The supply .was somewhat limited, comprising 236 head, but a considerable improvement in. the quality yarded was noticed tb-day, the entry being ebiefly good beef, which was well competed for by the trade. Best bullocks brought £8 os to £lO 2s 6d; medium to good, £6 10s to £7 6s; light and inferior, £3 5s to £4 10a ; beet cows, £6 7s 6d to £7 10b ; medium, £i 5s to £6 17s 6d; inferior and light, £2 2s 6d to £3 12s 6d;

Fat Sheep—The entry was again small, only 1870 head (including 200 merino wethers) being yarded. Consisting mostly of good crossbreds, for which there' was keen competition throughout the sales, while all classes of fat sheep were readily disposed of at a slight advance on last week’n prices.; best crossbred wethers sold at 16s 9d to 18s 9d; medium, 12a to 16s ; best do ewes, 14s 6d to 17s 6d medium, 10s to 18a 6d; merino wethers up to 13s. Lambs—The entry to-day numbered 140 head. Medium to good sold at from 8s 6d to 10s.<

Pigs A large supply came in to-day to a dull market, the entry numbering 277, met with a poor demand. Slips,' 8s to 14a ; stores, 16s to 18s 6d; porkers, 20s to 25a; baconers, 80s to 40s. Store Sheep—A few lets are changing hands at late rates, but dealers are not operating with the freedom shown a few weeks since 'scarcity ot feed ’being- probably the chief cause. 1550 crossbred wethers and ewes sold at 14s 6d, and 185 crossbred lambs at 6s 9d.

Store Cattle—A few inquiries ere made for small lots in forward condition for putting on turnips; for other sorts the market is dull—prices all round being in sympathy with those obtaining for fat stock, ENGLISH MARKETS. London, June 11. New Zealand long berried wheat, 43s 6d, market weaker. For New Zealand wheat on passage sellers are 1 asking 425, but buyers will not give more than 41s 6d. , Canterbury mutton '4ld ; Wellington 4d; Canterbury lamb s^d. New Zealand beef—-Forequarters, 3^d; hindquarters, 4|-d. New Zealand hemp, fair quality, £2O ; market firmer. Wool market is active. Prices at the sales are very firm.
