SALVATION ARMY, GERALDINE.
The festivities in connection with the hallelujah wedding of Captains Eattray and Noble, at Geraldine, were centinued on Monday night, when a gigantic wedding banquet was held in the Oddfellows' Hall. The buildiag was decerated for the occasion. Ihe band of the Geraldine corps, reinforced by players from Ashburton and Temuka, kept things lively outside by discoursing a number of their most stirring tunes. Inside the hall things presented a most animated appearance. ]?ive large tables were spread, three lengthwise and one across the hall, and one across the platform. They were loaded down with good things, including a plentiful supply of fruit, and being profusely decorated with flowers and small flags looked exceptionally well. At the table on the platform were the bride and bridegroom and the officers, with a number of the soldiers, A handsome weddingcake in the centre of the table looked very imposing. A plentiful supply of this was cut up and handed round, each person receiving a piece. The tables' were kindly provided by Mesdames Fly, Hardman, E Prouting, Baugheri, Chesterman, Martin, J W Pye, Pizzey.and Huffey. They were presided over by these ladies, assisted by Mrs J Brown, and Misseß Fleming, Prouting, Payne, Ward, Pawson, and Eooke. Tea was ready at the advertised time —6 o'clock, and for two hours a steady stream of visitors made a most determined attack upon the Bupply of good things with marked effect, and gave the ladies mentioned above a busy time. During the progress of the tea a big shout went up that Captain McCormack, the officer formerly in charge at Geraldine, had arrived, and on her walking into the room Bhe received quite an ovation from her old friends, who were delighted to see her. Shortly before eight the soldiers, headed by the band and with Major Eolfe leading, went for a march. During their absence the tables were cleared and preparations made for holding the night meeting. 'I here was a desperate rush for seats, and in a very short space of time the hall was packed to its utmost limit. Upon the soldiers returning they took up their position on the platform, every inch of which was crowded. Major Eolfe was in command, having on his light Captains Duggan (Temuka) and Hildreth (Ashburton), and Captain Eattray and Lieutenant Scott (Geraldine), and on his left Mesdames Bolfe, Duggan, and Eattray, and Captain McCormack A song having been sung and prayer offered Major Eolfe read a portion of Scripture from the 18th chapter of Luke, after which some stirring addressee were delivered by the officers mentioned above. The meeting was most enthusiastic. The culminating point was reached when the Major announced that he had that day received notice of the promotion of Lieutenant Scott to tbo rank of Captain, and called upon that officer to the meeting. Solos were sung■ during the evening by Major Eolfe : «uid Captains Duggan and Eattray, the two latter accompanying themselves on the banjo. Some forcible testimonies were also given. The meetiDg all through was eminently successful, and resulted in two converts coining out to the front. Captain Scott farewelled finally from Geraldine last night. This evening both officers farewell at Woodbury and on Friday night Captain Eattray farewells from Geraldine, when Mrs Captain Eattray also addresses the meeting. [ln our last issue we stated that Captain and Mrs Eattray go to Akaroa—we should have said Lytfcelton],
