Harness horses possessing quality and style are much enquired for, hut light and weedy hacks are unsaleable. Wo quote medium to good draughts at from £l2 to £2l, aged £6 to £lO, medium hacks at £8 to £l2 10s. Mr B, R, Guinness, for the New Zesi land Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited) reports for the week ending;. February 21 si : Sheep—Large entries have been the order of things since my last report at, most of the different saleyards, com-, petition being brisk; extensive sales, at enhanced values have taken place* Cattle—The market is well supplied with prime beef, and prices for the best quality are only 16a to 17s 6d per 1001 b. Stores are almost unsaleable just now, except at very low. figures. Pleasant Point—At this monthly fixture there was a fair entry of sheep with a good demand, resulting in a. clearance being effected. We sold 2 and 4-tooth crossbreds at 10s 4d, 4tooth ewes and lambs, all counted, at 7s per. head. TemukaVYards —There was a large yarding with a good attendance of buyers. Our entry, in conjunction ; with Mr A. E. Cox, was 1156 sheep, 20; head cattle, and 16 pigs. We had,no ; difficulty in disposing of all the sheep, and pigs, some, of the cattle being passed in, not reaching owners* reserves. The following are the sales: —29 fat crossbred ewes at 10s 9|, 92 do do ; qwes and wethers at 12s 3d, 30 faLeWes and wethers at 12s 3d, 185 cull 2-tooth crossbreds and merino wethers at 8s Id, and 876 2-tooth haifbreds at 9s 6d ; pigs, 11 weaners at Ba, to 9s, 5 stores at llsto.lSs; cattle, a, line of store steers at £3, and springers, at £3 apiece. Geraldine Yards—Sheep: At the above yards, in conjunction with Mr A. E Cox, on the 18th instant, a verylarge entry of about 8000 of various, sorts came forward; ours consisted of over 3000. There was a very large attendance from all parts of; the district, and for most of the lines brisk biddings were the order of the jiay. At auction we disposed of the, following lots 23 prime fat merino wethers at lls, 100 half-bred wethers at 8s 6d, 95 2-tooth half-bred ewes at 10s 3d, 295 2-tooth do at 10s 3d, 158 4-tooth do wethers at 12s 7d, 502 2tootb crossbreds at XOs 6d,216 2-tooth, halfbred wethers at 10s 6d, 265 do do, ; ewes at 10s lOd, and a few smalljlmes, at above quotations. Sheepskins—Our sales privately and, by auction were 4353, which realised as feljows ;—Best factory pelts £s 4d, to 2s Qd, lambskins 2s fid to §s 9d, butchers’ best 2s to 2a 2d, second Is 6d to Is sd; very few country skins coming forward, prices according to. . condition, etc. Hides—The market remains very dull; we have quitted all on hand at late quotations, CHRISTCHURCH WOOL SALES. Cheistchttbch, February 20. The fifth series of wool sales were held to-day, and as might have been expected at t{;e et}d of the season, tlqe catalogues presented no special' features excepting one or two merino clips. Crossbreds were a medium lot and included wool from the Chatham Islands, which show’s a gradual improvement.
