MOUNT FEEL ROAD BOARD.
r The ordinary monthly meeting of the board was held in the Road Board Office, Peel Forest, on Friday, the 20th inst.. Present—The Hon. J* Barton Acland (chairman), Messrs B Mackay, B Thew, 0 G Tripp, and G J Denniston. After confirming the minutes of the previous meeting the following correspondence was read and dealt with: ... From the Commissioner of Crown Lands, stating that the rents of land let on perpetual lease become due on the Ist January and July in e»ch year, and if any works proposed to be done by the board in making roads to such ' lands have been approved of by the Land Board the Receiver of Land Bevenue would be authorised to pay over to the board any moneys it may be entitled to in respect of such work; also forwarding plan and circular j relating to amounts already accrued.— j The clerk was directed to mark off on the plan that part of the roads proposed to be improved, with a ’description of work and estimate of cost, for approval of the Land Board, and also to point out that parts of sections 36092 and 86099 are included in the Mount Peel district. From Mr John Talbot in reference to the Harbor Board election, consenting to again represent the district on the Timaru Harbor Board. From Mr E. Griffiths, requesting time to grub gorse from roads adjoining his land at Rainoliff till after harvest,—The request was complied with. From Mr Fassell, Crown Lands Ranger, requesting information with respect to the small birds’ nuisance, and what means had been used by the board to abate the same.—The information to be supplied. From Messrs Smithson and Raymond, in reference to payment for the road line taken under the Public Works Act through the Timaru Borough Council reserve.—A cheque was drawn for the amount. From the Union Bank of Australia, Timaru, intimating that the board’s fixed deposit of £SOOO bad been renewed for 12 months. From the Commissioner of Property Tax, enclosing form of application for . 75 per cent on rates collected: during the current year, —The clerk to fill up the form and return it to the Property Tax Office. Resolved issued for the recovery of unpaid rates.”
The clerk was instructed to write to the Hospital Board, asking whether any action has been taken in reference to the suggestion made in the board s letter of the sth January. Accounts to the amount of £7B 6s were passed for payment, after which the board adjourned.
