The wool sales have been postponed owing to fogs. Unfounded fears that a difficulty would be experienced in discharging the cargo - of frozen meat by the s s Matatua has caused New Zealand mutton to rise Id. Silver is quoted at 3e B|d February 18. Tallow, best mutton, 26s 6d te 27a; do beef, 25s to 25s 6d. The English wheat market shows a general advance o£ Qd. The Continental is firm, and the American is unchanged. New Zealand long-berried wheat is quoted at an ayerage of 395. The quality of the cheese landed from the s.s. Raapehu from New Zealand is irregular, and some is very inferior. The shipment is realising from 46s to 48s per cwt. The wool market continues firm, and bidding is spirited.
