NEW HEBRIDES MISSION.

On Wednesday evening the Eev. Mr and Mrs Watt, missionaries of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, addressed a meeting in the church at Geraldine. There was a large attendance, the church being almost full. The Eev. a. B. Todd presided, and introduced Mr and Mrs Watt. They had been laboring for the last twenty, two years in the islands and had just returned from their furlough to Scotland. There they had put through the press the New Testament in the Tannese language, and the two books " Line Upon Line " and " Lines Left Out." Mr Watt gave a short ' account of their work while away from the New Hebrides, and added the gratifying intelligence that the Assembly at its late meeting had appointed a third missionary in connection with the Church. By means of the magic lantern Mr Watt then gave an interesting account of the history and progress of the mission since its beginning in 1829, The views comprised photographs and pictures of several of the missionaries, of their churches and mission premises, of the Christianised natives and native teachers, of the scenery ef the islands, and of the late mission Bhip Dayspnng. These will be very helpful in creating and sustaining an intelligent interest in the mission work on the islands. During the evening Mrs Watt sang very sweetly a Tannese hymn translated into that language by" one of the natives, of whom she afterwerds gave some particulars. At the close Mr Todd proposed a hearty vote of thanks to Mr and Mrs Watt for their presence and interesting addresses. A collection was taken up, which amounted to £2 8s 9d.
