TEMUKA TOWN BOARD.

An adjourned meeting of the abort board was held last Thursday evening. Present Messrs Blyth (chairman), Coira, Clinch, and Allan.

TENDERS. . The chairman explained that the meeting was principally called to open i tenders for contract No. 35, carting 300 yards shingle, &c. No tender having been received, it was decided to call for fresh tenders. ELECTION. It was decided to notify the returning officer of the necessity of preparing for the general election of members of the board, which must take place on the 17th September. BY-IJIWS. It was decided to notify to Constables Morton that he, Constable Egan, and Mr John Lawson had been appointed proper officers of the board to enforce tbe provisions of the bylaws and the Impounding Act, 188*. DEAINAOE. The overseer was instructed to get the drain between the park fence and the Star Hotel cleaned. SPECIAL MEETING. A special meeting of the board was then held, at which (on the motion of Massrs Allan and Clinch) the following resolution was carried : " That this board do now strike a general rate of one halfpenny in the pound, and a special nightisoil rate of three-eighths of a penny in the pounc 1 , on the rateable value of the Temuka Town District for the year ending 31sfc March, 1891, payable in one sum on the Ist day of October, 1890, and that the roll is now open for inspection at the board's office." The meeting then adjourned.
