TO THB EDITOE. Sin, —Your report of the social at the Hilton Hotel, pub’isbed last Tuesday, has led people to believe I was present, as you say songs were contributed by Messrs Grow and others. Tin’s I most indignantly deny. I was not inside the door of the hotel on that date, August 2nd, and may add that I do not indu ga in hotel socials or any such frivolities. By publishing this in your valuable p iper you will greatly oblige.—l am, etc., John Ckow, Kakabu Road, Aug. 11th, 1890. [The item of news referred to was forwarded by a corrospondant, who omitted to state the Christian names of some of those taking part in the social. This doubtless was the cause of the erroneous impression Mr Crow refers to. — Eb ]
