CHRISTCHURCH CORN EXCHANGE.

The following is the Corn Exchange report for the week ending Friday, Dec. 13th, 1889 Utter stagnation exists as regards cereals. Wheat has been quite neglected, the only outlet being the United Kingdom; two vessels, the Kylemon and the Auckland have sailed for London during the week, taking between them some 17,000 sacks. Oats are also without the least animation; account sales received lately from Melbourne are most unsatisfactory, leaving a heayy loss t» shippers. Barley, but little doing in the absence of prime malting offering. Peas and Beans see but little business, the want of tonnage to United Kingdom affecting the enquiry for the latter. Potatoes—Old, the season having passed quotations cannot be given. Grass Seed—Being the off season quotations are but nominal. Butter is perhaps a shade better, the local enquiry being somewhat more marked. Cheese remains at last week’s quotations. The following are our quotations for the week: — Wheat—Tuscan, 3s 2d to 3s 3d; pearl, 2s lOd to 2s lid; hunters, 2s 9d to 2a lOd.

Oats —Prime milling, 2s; heavy feed, Is less, other feed sorts according to quality,

Barley— Malting nominally, 3s 6d; feed 2s. Peas —Blue Prussian, (true), 3s 6d to 3s 9d ; feed varieties 2s 9d to 3s. Beans, 3s. Grass Seed —Machine dressed ryegrass, nominal, 4s 6d ; cocksfoot, 3£d. The above prices are those paid to farmers for delivery f.o.b. Lyttelton, sacks extra.
