About 100 passengers arrived at Auckland from Sydney on Wednesday by the Te Anau. Eotries for the Oainaru Agricultural Show total about 850, er 70 in excess of last year. On the arrival of the steamer Jubilee at Wellington from Sydney, Gould, the passenger who is alleged to have escaped from the Yarra at Melbourne, will be examined by the health officer. Nothing can be done to intercept him unless he is proved to be actually suffering from small-pox, as Sydney is not declared an infected port. The agents of the Jubilee have received a cable from Sydney stating that Gould is not identical with the Yarra passenger, and that the report is a disgraceful dodge on the part of the owners of opposition steamers.
