Constantinople, May 3. A body of Kurds outraged aud burned an Ariueniaa girl in the presence of her parents, at a place called Araria. The indignant villagers sent a deputation to the Porte to inform the Turkish Government that if reparation were not exacted they would ask Russia to annex the country. Chicago, May 1. During a display of firowoiks in this city a rocket accidentally found its way into a crowd. Many were badly burned by the explosion, and many more crushed in the panic which the accident caused. Altogether several hundred people were hurt} in one way or anothor, but fortiij nately none of the injuries are likely to prove fatal. Mux'(jo, May 2. 1 A Mexican mob made •.» attempt to release five Jesuit prisoners who had been committed to gaol at Guunaxuata, the capital of the State of the uamo name, for
preaching sorraons. Troops were called out to protect the Governor of the gaol, and were compelled to lire on the mob. Two hundred of the latter wore killed. Brisbane, May 3. Captain Emerson, and two seamen belonging to the steamer Lark were drowned at Cairns by the capsizing of a boar. May 4. i The min Hogao has been sentenced to I death for the murder of Gtlfoyle near Herbertoo. Sydney, May 4. A double murder and suicide is reported from Pyrraont, one of the city suburbs. A commercial traveller named John Manalvui t)ok a revolver and shot his wife, aged 21 years, thrice through the head, and his child, oged three years, once, the injuries iuflictod proving fatal in each case. Mauahan then committed suicide. The cause for the deed is attributed to domestic infelicity. Nemgn, May 1. The body of a man, unknown, between 40 and 60 years of nge, was found to-day in an unoccupied house at Mutai Valley, far gone in decomposition. By his side was a five-chambered revolver, one chamber fired. There were ovidenoes of an attempt to smother himself with charcoal. On the body was found a pocket mirror in a leathern case, and on the inside was written in pencil "Watson." it is supposed the man has been dead a fortnight. May 5. The remains found in an old hut at Matai on Wednesday last have been identified as those of Tercy King, alios Watson, alias Wilson, alias McCasker, a native of Australia, 37 years of agn. He was recently liberated from Wellington gaol, • aftsr serving a six years' sentence for forgery. I»veruar«iix, May 2. Mr Douglas, the station master at Kiversdfll», who was run dowu by a waggon some weeks back, his foot having caught in the frog of the crossing while shunting, died this afternoon in the Hospital. His recovery was impossible from the first. May 4. A settler near Wyndham named Ferguson was attacked by a bull and knocked dowu. His wife called a man some distance off, but without waiting for him courageously rushed to bor husbsnd'* assistance. The bull turned on her and toisrd her in the air. The brute was subsequently driven off with an axe and afterwards shot. Farguason was severely bruised about the head and neck, and his wife had three ribs broken, and was also badly bruised.
