Messrs Gracie, Maclean and Adam report for the fortnight ending Saturday ns folio a n : Horses —At the Timaru Horse Bazaar on tho 14th inst. our entry was large, and competition during the day was brisk, resulting in about one-half of j be lot, changing hands. To-day we entere i nlvut 64 head for sale, Best draughts sold at fair values, while aged and inferior were almost unsaleable. This also applies to hackneys anil tight harness horses. We quote best draughts at from £l7 10s to £26 10s ; medium, £8 to £l3 10s ; saddle and buggy horses, medium to good, £l2 to £l6 ; light and inferior, £4 to £/ 10s.

Oa’tle—At Pleasant Point on Ihe 9’ii ii.st, there wos a full yard of both fat and steers, and a pood clearance effected at prices a shade under late values. We sold cows (fat ) at £4 to £5 10s ; milkers, £3 10s to £4 5s ; yearlings, 25? to 32b 6d,—At Washdyke on the 12lh and 19th insts. we disposed ot nearly .every lino entered at fair values,-r-At MUkikihi on Monday there was an average entry of cattle, an 3 all disposed of. Sales are for various owners 25 fat cows at from £4 15s to £6 ss, 5 bu'locks at £6, 8 do at £5 15s, 18 slote cows at from 25s to 52s 6d, and privately, wo placed 345 bead store cattle at quotations. Hlieep—At Pl-asant, Point we sold 55 ewes at 4s 71, 70 ewes and wethers ot 7s 6d, 31 wetbers at 7s 4.1, 86 do at_ 7s 2d, 56 iwo-tooib. 1 } at 7s 6d, and privately 280 hoggets,—At Wash dye and Makikibi our sales were : —2OQ fat ewes : <t 6s 9d, 70 do ad 7s Id, 280 ewes a* ss, 91 ewes at 4s io£d, 30 hoggets at 5- Sid, 50 Wethers at Js, and privately 349 hoggets and 270 fat lambs at satisfactory prices.

1200 skins, all of which we c eared at—for jie t.s up to fail-woollen crossbreds nt 4s 6d, 4s 9d, ss, to 5s 2d ; merinos at 2s 6d, 2s 9d, 8s lid to 4s 3 d.

Hides—We have sold privately 84 hides at up io 4d per lb for best butchers’, calf skins 3d per lb.

A cargo of Australian wheat for export to the Continent has been sold at 345.

Seventy-one bags and 600 mats of Queensland sugar have been sold at auction at prices ranging from 13s 6d to 16s 6d. The wheat market is firmer whli on upward tendency, owing to the continued cold weather. Ex warehouse it remains at. 34s 6d to 355. Off coast cargoes are quoted at 84s to 34s 6d. Tire number of quarters afloat for the United Kingdom is 1,430,000, and for the Continent 3 90,000, •

The flour msrke.t .is dull. New Zealadd ex store is quoted at 235, Mutton tallow is quoted at 27s 3d and best beef at 26s per cwt. An increased demand is likely, owing to a speculative movement for a rise. In sugar there is a general decline, German is quoted at 15s,
